Finance Director – Dar es salaam – Favorite Group Ltd

CORPORATE STRATEGY
In conjunction with the strategic management team, carries out the following:
– Participates in the development of vision and business strategy;
– Assists in the identification of long-term strategic direction, goals and objectives for the Company for 3 to 5 years;
– Assists in ensuring that clear strategic medium to short term goals and objectives are cascaded throughout the Company;
– Maintains awareness of industry forces, and ensures that the company is well positioned to take advantage of them;
– Ensures that the company achieves target profitability on schedule and with sustainable practices;

FINANCE AND BUSINESS POLICY/ PLAN
Develops Annual Operating Plan and Capex requirements for the company based on budgets submitted by the heads of department

– Formulates and implements the Financial Policies covering:

– Foreign currency procurement
– Information Systems
– Timely production of financial reports and accounts
– Compliance with statutory regulations
– Financial Controls
– Ensures the efficient capture of revenue from various stakeholder groups, including customers and service suppliers;
– Maintains relationships with the MD and stakeholders, communicating the state of the enterprise to them clearly;
– Assists MD in responding to strategic financial questions or issues from the stakeholders, public and/or media;
– Ensures the application and/or negotiates favourable terms of payment with suppliers;
– Monitors operating cycle as in number of days, and highlights relevant issues with customers to MD and Sales Director.
– Attends the Board meetings as a Board member to discuss and decide remuneration and Company policies.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL
– Manages all operations relating to financial management and reporting of the company;
– Oversees the financial reporting process enabling efficient and timely closing of the monthly and quarterly accounts;
– Monitors capital expenditure for compliance with approved expenditure and corporate policy and procedure
– Arranges that Company assets and are correctly insured through Insurance policies;
– Follows up all claims over establishes veracity and recommends appropriate action;
– Maintains an understanding and focus on tax activities of the company, including the implications of doing business in multiple countries;
– Provide reports and recommendations to the MD regarding the financial stability and viability of the company
– Reviews, where necessary, contracts from suppliers, transporters and similar;
– Ensures that the internal audit controls and checks are correctly implemented and managed for the company;
– Reviews and approves senior management payroll
ANNUAL FORECASTING AND BUDGET
– Reviews and prepares supplemental pack for submission to the MD, and forwarding to the Regional FD for approval;
– Receives budget and forecasts for company Profitability and Sales Targets via flash report;
– Checks standard costs versus actual costs;
– Approves proposals on areas requiring attention for submission to Local Board of Directors;
– Alerts the MD regarding serious budget variances and implications
– Ensures, via the Heads of Department, that the agreed financial objectives and controls are implemented and managed

DIRECTION OF FINANCE DEPARTMENT INCLUDING IT, TREASURY AND ACCOUNTS
– Meets with departmental heads, develops the goals and objectives for each department, monitors adherence and keeps executive management informed;
– Overviews and ensures that the departmental organisation structures are in line with company strategic requirements;
– Ensures that the most suitable candidates are appointed for vacant positions, and that the manpower and succession plans are up to date, and that the requisite safety, health and welfare programmes are implemented
– Ensures, through Departmental Heads that the correct reward procedures are in place, (job evaluation and performance management) and that staff are being remunerated correctly;
– Arranges for company secretarial services and reporting for the relevant Board and Committee functions;
– Ensures that final minutes are submitted for Board approval

MANAGEMENT OF CUSTOMER FINANCIAL REPORTING
-Meets with directors and line managers to discuss and analyse budgeted costs for customers
– Compile and presents budgeted costs to customers for price negotiations and to secure orders
– Reviews and submits quarterly forecasts to customers
– Maintains communication with Regional directors and Corporate BRMs
COMPANY RISK AND COMPLIANCE
– Acts as Compliance Officer, and ensures, through the Line Managers, the enablement, and implementation of the requisite Company Risk and Compliance policies and processes;
– Addresses exceptions to the above, and alerts the MD.
– Ensures the implementation and maintenance of good Corporate Governance, and addresses exceptions through the relevant Line Managers;
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
– Ensures, through the Line Managers, and representing the Company that the following are introduced, implemented, updated and addressed:
– Social corporate responsibility including Community Development participation, growth and assistance; and
-Re-forestation and safety, health and environmental issues;
-Ensures the implementation of a public relations policy and programme to enhance and maintain the image of the company within the Country;

– Master’s degree in a business, financial or related field or equivalent work experience  Accounting Certification specifically CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA Preferred knowledge

Relevant experience
– 7-10 years experience of which 4 years at a senior financial management position
– At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial and operations management experience
-Working background in FMCGs

– Previous experience in corporate or business finance, Detail-oriented, Exceptional leadership skills,

– Strong written and verbal communication,

-Team management skills, Tax & auditing experience,

-Capable with IT finance, Outstanding relationship building skills, Project management skills
