Duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Manager – Logistics and Planning
i. Greenleaf
Planning the plucking cycles/rounds so that there is a consistent level of leaf being plucked on a daily basis (in line with the factory operations for high/low season). This planning to manage and balance leaf:
• From the estate
• From the out growers
ii. Planning the plucking per area, so that there can be an efficient movement of the vehicles to pick up leaf
iii. Planning the route of the vehicles for most efficient pick up and organizing the plucking in relation to this route/timing – ie. a morning or afternoon pick up
iv. Organizing the quality inspection in line with the vehicle for pick up
v. Managing the data of the out growers and how much land they have, their yield, to determine what they should be able to pluck and providing this data to the quality inspector for their direct and real time usage
vi. Made tea
• Planning of the movement of tea from Mufindi/Njombe to Dar/Mombasa
• Movement of tea vs contracted volume
• Contract planning and forecasting
vii. Provide availability per month, forecasting forward to allow the correct Forward Contract creation in line with most likely supply capability and providing this to the team in Mombasa to enable them to update the Forecasting process properly and create Forward Contracts that are realistically achievable
viii. Update of production vs contracts and highlighting issues of supply against existing contracts
Relevant Skills and Experience
• Bachelor Degree in Procurement and supplies Management or any other relevant studies
• More than 2years experience in similar operations
• Registered with Professional Body in procurement & supplies
• Effective communication and influencing skills
• Good spoken/written English and Swahili languages
• Good computer skills
• Ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements
• Flexibility with work hours depending upon business needs
• Experience in Supply Chain operations
• Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management
