Field Epidemiology Technical Advisory – Dar es salaam – International Training And Education Center For Health (I-Tech) Tanzania

Position Summary
The Field Epidemiology Techinical Advisor (TA) will be responsible for ensuring successful implementation andevaluation of the FELTP Intermediate course. The TA will report directly to I-TELTP Tanzania Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) program Director. The TA will also work closely with the US-based principal investigator, CDC resident advisor, I-TECH country office and Seattle-based personnel, the ministry of Health and social welfare (MOHSW), FELTP Tanzania, and other key stakeholders. Under direction from the country HSS program Director, the TA will be responsible for the following activities, including but not limited to:

Responsibilities
• Ensure that all aspects of the standardized FELTP curriculum are implemented according to I-TECH/CDC/FELTP learning objectives, procedures, and timelines.
• Coordinate, with logistical support from the training coordinator, all didactic sessions and field activities including guest lecturers and site visits.
• Lead designated lectures and group assignments on surveillance systems, reporting, and outbreak investigation.
• Work with the senior fellow (I-TECH, Seattle, USA) to manage the course website on canvas (an on-line learning management system).
• Provide regular updates to I-TECH and CDC collaborators and the MOHSW on course progress. And work together to address any technical or operational problems.
• Serve as a primary point of contact between and represent I-TECH and the FELTP at stakeholder meetings, technical working groups, and field sites.
• Collaborate with the Senior Fellow, CDC and FELTP staff to provide additional learning materials and sessions in person and/or via canvas LMS to support the trainees learning needs.
• Provide oversight and support to the trainees mentors, and help them to cultivate successful mentor-mentee relationships.
• Supervise trainees in the design, implementation, and reporting of their field assignments.
• Work with I-TECH/CDC collaborators, FELTP, MOHSW, and other local collaborators to establish a professional network to support the new cadre of graduates.
• Collaborate with the Senior Fellow and CDC to design and implement an evaluation of the FELTP intermediate course.
• Assist in development and collection of process and outcome measures.
• Contribute to quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports to I-TECH headquarters and donors.

Required Qualifications
• Master`s Degree in Epidemiology or equipment professional training in epidemiology
• Graduation`s from a Field Epidemiology Training Program, OR at least 2 years of experience working in disease surveillance, outbreak response and/or observational epidemiology.
• Experience in mentorship and supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in written and oral formats.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and respective with diverse partners.
• Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented. And sensitive to confidential information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office (word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with software for data analysis (e.g. SPSS, Epi Info, STATA)
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Experience with adult education strategies and curricula.
• Experience conducting public health research and data analysis.
• 3 years of experience in managing US government and/or donor-funded programmes.
• Experience working in the Tanzania Public health system.
