2. CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR FOR BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (BScN) DEGREE PROGRAMME:
Qualifications: Applicants must be:
1. Registered Nurse and Midwife.
2. A holder of Masters Degree with special interest in clinical teaching.
3. Valid license to practice by TNMC.
4. Employed as a nurse or midwife and stationed at a health facility involved in teaching of students will be an added advantage.
5. A minimum of four years experience in nursing and or Midwifery practice.
6. Maintain current understanding of Tanzania Nursing professional policies, procedures, guidelines, code of ethics, and jurisdictional laws and regulation.
7. Demonstrate a continued desire to work with students in clinical settings.
8. Undergone a certified clinical instructor/mentorship training/program
Duties and Responsibilities of a Clinical Instructor:
1. Direct, manage and evaluates student learning in the clinical setting.
2. Assists students in integration of theory and practice, specific to the course’s learning activities and level of the learner.
3. Evaluates the student’s development of clinical reasoning skills.
4. Facilitates clinical teaching/seminars.
5. Directly observes and guides students’ learning activities with clients.
6. Prepares student for clinical examination during end of semester and final nursing examination.
7. Evaluates student’s capacity in clinical as related to the program outcomes.
8. Participates as a member of the course team in the course’s development and evaluation activities with the lead course coordinator.
9. Provides timely and ongoing feedback to the course coordinator regarding individual student and group performance in accomplishment of the course’s outcomes.
10.Provides feedback to the course coordinator regarding the clinical setting’s effectiveness in supporting student accomplishment of the course and program outcomes.
11. Collaborates with the unit manager and staff so that the presence of students and their activities are supportive of the unit’s goals and needs.
12.Serves as a liaison between the health care setting and training institution.
REPORTING TO: The Principal Mikocheni School of Nursing and the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing respectively.
TENURE: Four (4) years contract, renewable for two further terms, subject to satisfactory performance and successful completion of a one-year probation period upon recruitment.
REMUNERATION: According to the HKMU salary scales and fringe benefits.
