Job Purpose
To develope manage, coordinate and implement editorial training programs that aim for capacity building for editorial staff and continuity development and improvement of the MCL products.
Main Responsibilities
• To research and identify relevant trainng needs and implementation process for editorial department.
• To plan and develop training programs for editorial staff (reporters, sub editors, editors, pnotographers and graphic designers)
• To organize and coordinate training for editorial staff.
• To carry out periodical training assessments and evaluation on the progress of the already done trainings and impactes to the trainees performance.
• To provide professional training for print and digital media on news writing and editing to reporters and editors.
• In coordination with Editorial Administration Manager and managing editors will design, implement and oversee all aspects of a regular training and mentoring program to reporters and editors.
• Identify talents and candidates for Media Lab training program.
• As part of editorial team, reviews the day`s publication to identify strengths and weakness and shares findings/analysis with Managing Edotor.
• As a senior editor, contributes to the continuing development and improvement of MCL Products.
• Liaise with section editors on content quality improvement through mentorship and coaching.
• As senior editor, will be one of the key players in ensuring that MCL maintains high quality of journalism in terms of both content and language as stated clearly in our Editorial Policy.
• Producing quarterly in-depth analysis of the MCL journalism, in which you will give an independent assessment of what the papers did well or got wrong. You will also suggest constructrive solutions to all serious problems identified during the quarterly assessment. The quarterly report assessment would then be tabled to the Editorial top leaders, chaired by Executive Editor and attended by all heads of respective products and key editorial people.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Academic: Basic University Degree in Journalism/Mass Communication
Professional: Advanced Diploma in Journalism
Experience: 7 years working experience.
