Environmental Technician – Dar es salaam – Shanta Mining Company Limited

Key Result Areas
The specific duties of the Environmental Technician include but are not limited to the following:

• Conducting environmental monitoring as scheduled and in accordance with monitoring programmes and plans.
• Ensuring that environmental data is entered into field sampling sheet and any anomalies are reported to the Environmental Officer in a timely fashion.
• Assist the Environmental Officer to with vector control programs.
• Assist the Environmental Officer with waste management tasks: collection and management of NLGM waste
• Assist in rehabilitation programs to ensure that mined areas are returned to their natural state.
• Assist in maintaining a current environmental management system to ensure compliance with international environmental standards.
• Provide a service for snake and bee removal from the site.
• Provide professional and technical support to employees and contractors to ensure that operating practices comply with environmental best practices.
• Other duties as required by the environmental officer
Minimum Requirements

Education
Certificate in Environmental Health Science, Clinical Sciences or Certificate in Forestry Horticulture or related discipline.

Experience
At least one to two years’ experience in industry with some exposure to the mining, mineral processing or chemical manufacturing industry is essential.

Skills
Basic knowledge of the mining safety and environmental regulations.
Knowledge of Mine Safety Regulations and Industry Best practices.
Intermediate Computer skills in: MS Office Software package.
Possess current Light Vehicle Driver’s License.
