1. INTRODUCTION As part of managing growth, an opening has arisen at JUKWAA LA KATIBA TANZANIA for the Position of a full time Executive Director and CEO. The Executive Director is a new position having evolved from a former semi CEO position of Coordinator [2011 – 2016]. Among others, the Executive Director is the head of JUKATA Secretariat and Accounting officer of the Forum. Reporting to the Steering Committee, which is JUKATA’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director shall report to the Board and work under the line management of the Chairman of JUKATA. JUKWAA LA KATIBA TANZANIA (JUKATA) is a membership Forum of Civil Society Organizations which has been incorporated under the Companies Act 2002, vide a certificate of incorporation section 15 No. 85905 of 2011. JUKATA is a platform for citizen’s participation in the constitution making, with a focus on promoting citizen literacy necessary for enabling participation, defending constitutional rights in elections and other democratic processes. JUKATA provides a platform for citizens to engage in constitutionalism and related processes in Tanzania. It is a membership forum comprised of 184 members across Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.
JUKATA envisions a Tanzania with a new people centered constitution and wherein all citizens abide by it and stand firm to defend and promote the constitution including enjoyment of the rights it provides. The Forum’s mission is to mobilize, facilitate and promote citizen participation in the making and implementation of the URT constitution through empowerment and coordination of CSO’s. implementation including highlighting incidences of breach as well as low or lack of implementation. The network includes strong CSO’s, coalitions and trade unions with high potential and capacities at regional and district levels. The regional CSO’s and district networks across Tanzania are members responsible for undertaking JUKATA work in their respective locations down to the grassroots.
2. POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
3. QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in any discipline is a requirement. PhD degree will be an added advantage.
4. STATION: Dar es Salaam but with significant amount of travel upcountry and abroad.
5. EXPERIENCE: This is a senior level position in the organization and the person must have at least seven years working experience in the NGO, government or private sectors in Tanzania or elsewhere in the world.
6. CITIZENSHIP: The nature of the job, the constitutional process and the political environment of this job require that this job must be held by a Tanzanian citizen. 7. AGE: Must be from the age of 40 years and above
8. SKILLS: The Executive Director should possess very strong writing, analytical, negotiation, networking and communication skills.
9. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director will have the following roles and responsibilities among others:
i) Secretary to the Board
ii) Head of the JUKATA Secretariat and Management
iii) Accounting officer of the organization
iv) Supervisor and In-charge of day to day activities of the organization
v) Signatories to JUKATA bank accounts
vi) Work with the Board to raise funds for the organization

vii) Prepare and present quarterly, annual and other periodic reports to the Board and donors
viii) Communicate with the outside world on administrative issues
ix) In collaboration with the Board hire, retain and lay-off programme and supporting staff
