OVERALL JOB FUNCTION:
Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) in collaboration with Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) and Columbia University implement a research project named as MNH+, referring to ” Improving maternal and newborn health using the HIV program platform in Tanzania (MNH+)”. This is the implementation research study that aim to test the hypothesis that “Strengthening MNH services and outreach using the HIV program strategy (MNH+) will improve quality and utilization of essential MNH and HIV services and in turn lead to better health outcomes for mothers and newborns”. The Implementation manager oversees the key implementation strategies that include but not limited to; targeted improvements to infrastructure and supplies for maternal/newborn care, improving provider’s knowledge and attitudes (training), supportive supervision and the community outreach program.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide on-site training on Basic Emergency Obstetrics and Newborn Care to health care providers from the MNH+ Intervention sites.
• Facilitate procurement of medical equipments and supplies necessary for provision of quality maternal and newborn care
• Conduct joint (with CHMTs) supportive supervision and on job training to all intervention facilities
• Coordinate implementation of peer mothers outreach program to all intervention facilities
• Participate in the expansion of Cervical Cancer Screening Program to THPS supported regions
• Write monthly and quarterly reports relevant to MNH + study
• To perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Medical Degree in Obstetrics Gynecology is preferred.
• Knowledge of maternal and child health, HIV and the Tanzania health system is required
• Experience working in collaboration with local government partners (R/CHMTS) and NGOs.
• At least 5 years’ working experience in maternal and neonatal health
• Ability to train, mentor, and supervise junior staff
• Excellent English and Swahili oral/written communication
• Excellent interpersonal and management skills.
