Intern – Gender and Male Involvement – Maternal and Child Survival Project – Dar es salaam – Jhpiego

Overview
Intern for gender integration will assist the technical advisor for gender to spearhead the gender integration and male involvement activities for MCSP USAID – funded program for Mara and Kagera regions. Working closely with the Technical advisor for gender and technical officers in regions, the intern will support provision of strategic and programmatic oversight for the design, development, and implementation of gender portfolio within the project intern will support collaboration between MCSP and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (RHMT, CHMT, and FHMTs), and partner organizations. In relation to gender integration; MCSP/TZ aims to improve the quality of care for RMNCH by ensuring respectful, gender-sensitive care across the continuum of care; constructively engage men in RMNCH preventative and care services at both the facility and community levels; Mitigate RMNCH risks posed by gender based violence (GBV) through facility, community and household based dialogues by health providers, CHWs and community. To better inform the design of these strategies as well as the project overall, MCSP/TZ will conduct a gender analysis, which will be undertaken as part of the initial assessments to design the RMBCH community intervention

Qualifications and Requirements
• Advanced degree in social science or community development or public health. Master`s degree in public Health will be an added value.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-descipline team-based organizational structure
• Strong decision making skills and results oriented approach
• Excellent written and spoken Swahili and English. Presentation, communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated in depth understanding of Tanzania healthcare system, particularly the public health system in Tanzania preferred
• Strong skills in word processing and Excel spread sheets
• Ability to travel up to 40% time
Preferred qualifications
• Understand USAID programs could be desirable
• Understanding of RMNCH service deliveries and management

Tanzania nationals who have previous experience working with an international organization are preferred.
