Responsibilities:
• Creating and maintaining project charters for all current and new programs
• Compile and monitor work plans and reports from all programs
• Support programs progress monitoring system
• Supporting program managers in development and updating of monthly Gantt charts to track activities
• Assist programs to develop procurement plans; work with ‘Procurement team to streamline and accelerate procurement procedures in a compliant manner,
• Develop, compile, update and disseminate donors compliances and regulations per project
• Work with different departments to develop/update and disseminate policies, such as Security Plan, Travel reimbursement policies, HR manuals, Finance procedures, Grants Manual, Environmental Plan, ete.
• Support the development and implementation of the business plan for Jhpiego Tanzania
• Identify and track new business opportunities
• Coordinate the development of proposals
• Assist with project design as needed
• Serve as lead writer as needed
• Routinely meet with external organizations to seek out collaboration opportunities
• Generally ensure that proposals are of the highest quality
• Act as focal person for Jhpiego Knowledge Management
• Routinely update the Tanzania pages for my.jhpiego and promoting the use of. Sharepoint within the Tanzania office
• Support the communications team to develop and maintain the Tanzania newsletter
• Work with HR department to carry out New Staff Orientation
• Help to develop annual staff meeting and other program staff retreats
Additionally:
For all activities, the PMO will work closely with relevant technical experts in Baltimore to guide strategy, and Tanzanian
counterparts, to progressively build capacity in the above areas into the fabric of the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Advanced degree in public health or related field
• 8+ years’ experience managing international health programs
• Strong programming, management and technical skills, specifically with HIVIAIDS,
• Cervical Cancer prevention, Maternal and
• Child Health, Malaria! Family Planning and TB in developing countries
• Knowledge of international and USG donor agencies and private sector foundations
• Demonstrated skills in the technical side of program implementation
• Experience in the development of strategic and tactical plans in cooperation with others who represent a wide range of interests and needs
• Ability to interact with established networks of senior level international health professionals, donors, universities and other partners
• Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming and the ability to manage several major activities simultaneously
• Demonstrated collaborative relationship with field-based international donor agencies
• Strong change management, results oriented and decision making skills
• Excellent presentation skills and verbal and written communications skills
• Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
• Appreciation for socio-cultural differences in countries, preferably having lived and worked in one or more low resource settings
• Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
• Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
• Any other related program work that will be assigned by the Country Director
Tanzanian nationals who have previous experience working with an international organization are preferred.
