Responsibilities:
-Retain ultimate responsibility for the overall implementation of USAID Boresha Afya project activities in his/tier region (s)
-Liaise with Regional and district local authorities in making sure that USAID Boresha Afya -supported activities contributes to the national goal and plans on respective RM2NCAH areas.
-Oversee quality of programs in the region, including to provide coaching and mentoring of USAID Boresha Afya facility and community health workers
-Ensure timely execution of USAID Boresha Afya regional work plan
-Coordinate with technical Advisors from zonal office in carrying out capacity building
activities at all levels to realize project results
-Take leadership in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of USAID
-Boresha Afyaproject activities at regional level
-Participate in capacity building activities including trainings, coaching and supervision at regional, district, facility and community levels
-Ensure quality and timely data collection and submission of program reports including trip reports, quarterly narrative, expenditure and -finance reports, and other reports for a region as required
-Maintain consistent communication with the zonal technical team, technical Director and the M&E team regarding program performance in a region
-Coordinate with the technical team and project leadership to meet technical needs identified during program implementation in a region
-Work to identify and document success stories and best practices from program activities.
-Maintain close relationship with the RMOs, DMOs, CHMTs, Regional and District
-Reproductive and Child Health coordinators, Regional and District Nursing Officers and other NGO’s implementing RM2NCH Work in a region.
-Supervise and manage performance of regional support staff.
-Be able to represent Jhpiego in various activities at the regional level as assigned by the program management
Qualifications and Requirements:
-A clinical degree or equivalent qualification (MD, AMO or nursing/Midwifery).
-Candidates with Public Health and any other relevant qualifications will be considered
-Solid programmatic and technical expertise in reproductive health programs
-At least 5 years’ experience in health programs at regional or national level.
-Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, inspiring team work and motivating staff,
-consultants and partners to achieve results.
-Demonstrated experience maintaining donor and partner relations, ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short -deadlines and intense pressure to perform
-Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts in other agencies and organizations
-Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS word, Excel and PowerPoint.
-Ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in regional and national programs and technical staff in the areas family -planning, performance and quality improvement
-Excellent written and oral English and Kiswahili skills
-Demonstrated self- management (i.e. motivation, dealing with pressure adaptability)
-Willingness to live in the specified regions and travel up to ~ time.
