Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Senior Quantity Surveyor is expected to add value to the construction process by proactive involvement in cost management and reporting with the overall
objective of constructing quality affordable houses in various PSHS construction projects. The incumbent is also expected to drive best value from main and sub-contractors.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Assesses and/or prepare Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Works, Specifications and all contract documentation, ensuring that these comply with the project brief and timescale, budget estimates: all relevant legislation, regulations and policies
Assist in the management of associated contractual issues which include but not limited to: determining the extent and value of building work execution for interim payments to contractors; assessing and settling contractors claims throughout the contracts; agreeing final accounts with contractor and auditor and issuing the Final Certificate.
Carry out valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales;
Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts;
Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations;
Assist in preparation and adherence to project procurement targets and costing budgets;
Assist in planning and scheduling of construction works and in dealing with incoming enquiries in order to provide best value and timely services to clients;
Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by the Chief Operations Officer.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications, experience: –
University Degree in Quantity Surveying from a recognized university.
Must be registered by the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB).
Knowledge and Competence in Information and
Communications Technology (lCT) applications; and
Not less than five (5) years work experience in construction industry out of which two (2) years must be in senior position.
