Pyschologist – Plan International Tanzania

Job purpose & summary:
Plan International will implement a new programming in Nduta and Mtendeli camps – Kibondo District – Kigoma Region to engage youth and empowerment them through life-skills training, provision of necessary livelihood inputs/trainings and skills.
The Psychologist will support the quality implementation of the Mental health and Psychosocial Wellbeing program in the frame of Plan emergency response in

Key Responsibilities of Position:
•Provide mental health services and specialized psychosocial support (as needed) to affected children and young people in all Plan’s activities.
•Undertake assessments of mental health and psychological needs, risk assessment and psychometric testing, if needed.
•Offer continuous technical support to staff implementing psychosocial support activities in Child Friendly Spaces and Youth Centres.
•Work in close collaboration with the Case Management and other coordinators to ensure that the psychosocial well-being of children and young people are addressed.
•Helping social workers and the beneficiaries’ family to understand the individual’s psychosocial status and the influence it has on his recovering process, and follow up on the cases.
•Support team in addressing the special needs of beneficiaries that face psychological impacts and the consequences it has on their family life and community.
•Responsible for insuring the provision of individual and group counselling/discussion for beneficiaries and caregivers in order to facilitate also his/her community integration.
•Facilitate trainings for social workers and other relevant staff on psychosocial support. Psychological first aid, and effectively communicating with children and youth in stress.
•Develop and update work plan for the implementation of MHPSS activities.
•Develop and put in place the necessary tools to evaluate the outcomes of Psychosocial support interventions.
•Writing reports and record keeping of all information regarding activities (data, weekly reports, monthly reports), respecting quality standards.
•Collaborate with key agencies, local authorities and organizations for the provision of MHPSS activites

Qualifications and experience
Hold Master degree in psychology, or equivalent
Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field –
Demonstrate good understanding of mental health and psychosocial support practices in a similar position.
Experience with refugees will be an added advantage
Interpersonal and psychotherapeutic skills
Patience and stress management
Good knowledge of computer applications
Good training abilities
Capacity to work under pressure
