Health Informatics Officer – Dar es salaam – Jhpiego

Overview:
The Jhpiego Tanzania office supports the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in strengthening routine health information systems. This includes development of new health information systems, such as those for voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC), Post Exposure
Prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV, and cervical cancer prevention (CECAP). Additionally, this includes supporting the MOHSW with the rollout of already developed health information systems, such as DHIS2. With the Maternal Child Survival Program (tvICSP) , Jhpiego is taking more roles in supporting the ministry from central to facility level. In its role as technical assistant to the MOHSW and sometimes the implementing partners, Jhpiego is expected to provide technical support to, appropriate data recording, reporting, aggregation, data management, and quality control from facility level all the way up the ministry. The Regional Health informatics Officer would provide technical support to the facility, district, region and implementing partners on health information systems, data management and reporting, under the leadership of the Health Informatics Advisor and the Regional M&E officer. Together with the district/regional HMIS focal person and RRC/DRH Coordinators, the
Health informatics Officer would be a key member of the team, to ensure that Jhpiego provides appropriate technical support to the Region, Districts and facilities and other key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science; IT and/ related field
• MSC in health informatics is an added advantage.
• At least 3 years work experience supporting data management systems
• Experience providing technical support to government routine health information systems to both MOHSW and implementing partners
• Knowledge of different database software,(DHIS2 preferred)
• Skills in generating pivot tables in Excel
• Excellent time management, peoples and partnership skills
• Availability and willingness to travel up to 30% time
Tanzanian nationals who have previous experience working with an international organization are preferred.
