Project Officer for Ending Child Marriage – Children’s Dignity Forum – Dar es salaam

Typical Responsibilities – Key End Results of Position
• Support the quality project implementation, monitoring and other support as per the need of the project
• Implement awareness raising on Child marriage and ending FGM through community led campaign; enganging men and boys in football, developing capacity of adolescents and community on child protection mechanisms, engaging young people through clubs
• Provide support for capacity building of partners and community, including relevant local Government
• Support coordination and networking with the district line agencies and do advocacy with the stakeholders for preventing child marriage, FGM and gender based violence in the district
• Support preparation or reports and project documentation
• Other routine responsibilities as required

Leadership Behaviours
• Good knowledge on gender equality, social mobilization and behavior change communication processes
• Familiar with issues related to Child Marriage, FGM, Downry and Gender based Violence
• Good experience in facilitating and capacity building
• Excellent at working with young people
• Strong team working skills and commitment to continuous learning
• Cultural sensitivity i.e. building and working effectively within a diverse working environment
• Analytical ability and capable to document
• Experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting
• Experience must include working with child protection/prevention of child marriage related programs

Qualification and Experience
• Minimum Degree in Law, (advocate added advantage) Bachelor in Social Science, child development, social work or related disciplines
• Knowledge of principles and practices related to child development, child participant and protection issues, (Experience of working with Girls Project is an added advantage)
• Training – key exposure to course on: Project Management, Child protection, Gender equality, Monitoring and evaluation, partnership management; Human Rights Conventions, CRC and CEDAW
• Experience of working with children and young women

Physical Environment and Demands
Typical field office environment with frequent visit to the project villages within Tarime District

Level of Contact with Children
Frequent interaction with children as the post holder will require working with children in the project communities
