Summary of key functions
• Formulation and implementation of DAO communications, Outreach, Advocacy and partnerships (COAP) policies, strategies, products and services.
• Guides and facilitates the overall Tanzania One UN COAP strategy for 2016-21, already being tested during the last year of UNDAP 1 (2015-16), with a special focus on the media
• Ensures the institutionalization of inter-agency collaboration in the COAP to support the operationalization of initiatives under one UN led by RCO.
• Management of the RCO pillar on COAP, facilitation of UNCG, and backstopping of the RC on engagement with national stakeholders at national and local levels on the SDGs and UNDAP I and II.
• Ensures effective management of the four person COAP pillar in the RCO in close collaboration with UNCT, UNIC and UNCG in line with the communicating as one SOPs.
• Develops and backstops the advocacy campaign for the roll-out of the SDGs in line with national priorities of the united republic of Tanzania.
• Facilitation of innovations on communicating as one initiatives and knowledge building and sharing for UN Tanzania and its partners establishment and management of the network of partners and alliances to support the UNCDF and LFI agenda. Strengthen partners with key traditional donor stakeholders in support of DaO reforms and to promote continued support for one UN.
• Develops concepts for non-traditional partner engagement activities in alignment with UNDAP II (private sector, journalists, press clubs, etc).
• Resources mobilization from new partners in Tanzania to support UN communications, outreach advocacy and partnerships
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Master`s Degree in communication, journalism, public Relations or a related relevant discipline
• At least 7 years of relevant work experience (additional years preferred ) in the area of communications, outreach, advocacy and partnership, including engagement at national and community levels.
• Proven track record of working with journalists, the media and advocacy-related community organizations at national and local level.
• Demonstrated experience networking with seniou government leaders, donors and private sector executives
• Knowledge of the UN in Tanzania and the role of the UN resident coordinator system under DaO an advantage
• Familiatity with the aid context and development processes in Tanzania an advantage.
