Support Establishment Of Child-Friendly Practices In Police – UNICEF

Purpose:
UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a consultant to increase the capacity of Myanmar police and courts to deliver child friendly justice, through capacity building at central and local level, setting up child friendly environment and supporting systematic data collection process.

Minimum requirements and competencies:
– Advanced university degree in law, international law, human rights or social sciences
– At least 10 years of experience of working in the criminal justice system, particularly in police or judiciary.
– At least 5 years of experience of working as an international advisor in the field of justice, including juvenile justice, judiciary and police reform, and other related fields
– Specialisation in juvenile justice/justice for children will be a strong asset
– Experience and proven capacity to develop training materials on child rights/child friendly justice and undertake trainings for criminal justice practitioners
– Experience in the South East Asia region will be considered an asset
– Excellent skills in analysis, negotiation and advocacy
– Excellent English language (writing and oral) skills
– Prior experience working with UN and UNICEF will be an asset
– Excellent ability to work in different cultural contexts and in politically sensitive situations
– Very good interpersonal skills

The consultant will be identified by UNICEF based on a competitive selection process, taking into account the candidate’s experience, the quality of the answers produced and the lump sum requested. If deemed opportune, UNICEF will conduct a telephone interview with shortlisted candidates.
